Vulva Voices - Vulva Shoot Reflection by Anonymous
Growing up in a Mexican household vaginas were never something we were talking about at home. Of course we talked about our periods and how thing work but we never talked about what our vulvas are capable of and how empowering it is to have a vagina. It wasn't until my late 20s when I discovered masturbation. I was never taught that it was okay to look at yourself or that vaginas were a powerful part of your body. I always shied away from looking at my vulva. I was insecure of what it would look like and that maybe it was ugly or that it didn't look like other women. I never fully accepted my vulva. I want to be able to talk to my mom about this experience and hopefully let her know its okay for her as well and to normalize this conversation. This experience has taught me so much about myself that i never thought possible. I see how powerful and amazing my vulva is and that i need to protect it and feel empowered by it. I want to empower other women to feel the same.
